MAVA
overview
Master training is a club-wide training initiative that all teams, players and coaches alike, are required to attend after the conclusion of tryouts and before team practices start. This time is used to start training players and teams on the fundamental and mental skills that MAVA has engrained in our club over the years. These skills are cultivated throughout a player's time at MAVA and built upon from 10's to 18's.
Master Trainers are in charge of hosting Master Training and ensuring teams are kickstarting their seasons together effectively by learning and embodying the MAVA Methods and Mentalities. Special guest skill coaches, in addition to the Master Trainers, are brought in to showcase specific skill areas and potentially show coaches new ways of training these same skills.
The dates for Master Training are shared in advance of tryouts so families can mark their calendars. However, the session times and court assignments for each team are only able to be created and shared after tryouts due to the schedule being based on the teams formed at tryouts. Younger teams are typically in the earlier sessions (before 7:00pm) and older teams are typically in the later sessions (after 6:00pm). The schedule, court assignments, and team pairings change throughout Master Training along with the skills focused on each day.
